About San Martin, CA
San Martin is an unincorporated, predominantly rural residential community located in South Santa Clara County between Morgan Hill and Gilroy. The San Martin planning area is approximately 6,300 acres and is bounded by Maple Avenue on the north and Fitzgerald-Masten Avenues on the South.
The San Martin area is divided approximately in half by the South Valley Freeway (Highway 101) which runs in a north-south direction. The area west of the freeway is more intensely developed and supports all of the existing commercial and industrial uses in San Martin. The area east of the freeway, which is the more rural part of the community, is characterized by low to medium density, single family residences and various agricultural land uses.
The “San Martin Village” is centered at the intersection of Monterey Road and San Martin Avenue. This community core consists of single-family lots and most of the commercial and industrial uses within the San Martin area. Approximately 300 acres in size, the community core is characterized by a predominance of small lots, a village atmosphere, and higher population density than the remainder of San Martin.

San Martin or San Martín (Spanish for Saint Martin of Tours) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Clara County, California, in the southern Santa Clara Valley, to the south of Morgan Hill and north of Gilroy, and in between the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west and the Diablo Range to the east.
